Holidays
Holidays in BusinessHRM mark non-working days for your company. They're skipped automatically when employees apply for leave, shown on the shift roster, and can be targeted at specific departments, designations or employment types. This article covers adding holidays, marking recurring weekly off-days, importing, and the calendar and table views.
Permission note: Viewing holidays requires the View Holiday permission; adding them requires the Add Holiday permission.
Adding holidays
You can add several holidays in a single submission.
How to add holidays
- Go to HR → Holiday and click Add Holiday.
- For each holiday, enter a Date and an Occasion (both required). Use Add to include more rows.
- Optionally target the holiday (see below).
- Save.
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Date | Yes | The holiday date (one per row). |
| Occasion | Yes | The name of the holiday, e.g. New Year's Day. |
| Department | No | Limit the holiday to specific departments. |
| Designation | No | Limit it to specific designations. |
| Employment Type | No | Limit it to Full Time, Part Time, On Contract, Internship, and/or Trainee. |
If you leave the targeting fields empty, the holiday applies to everyone. Holidays are also added to your connected Google Calendar where applicable.
Marking default (recurring) holidays
Use this to mark recurring weekly off-days — for example, every Saturday and Sunday for the whole year — in one step.
How to mark default holidays
- On the Holiday page, click Mark Default Holidays.
- Tick the weekday(s) that should be holidays for the current year.
- Optionally enter an Occasion (if left blank, the weekday name is used).
- Confirm.
BusinessHRM finds every matching date from 1 January to 31 December of the current year and creates a holiday for each, without creating duplicates.
Importing holidays
Both the calendar and table views include an Import button so you can bulk-load holidays from a spreadsheet — handy for loading a published public-holiday list at the start of the year.
Calendar and table views
- Calendar view (default) — holidays plotted on a full calendar.
- Table view — a list with columns for Date, Occasion, Day (weekday), Department, Designation and Employment Type. Filter by Month and Year, or search. You can Delete holidays (including in bulk) and open a holiday to view its detail.
Toggle between the two views using the buttons in the top-right corner.
Tips
- Set up your recurring weekly off-days with Mark Default Holidays first, then add one-off public holidays with Add Holiday.
- Use targeting when a holiday applies only to part of the company (e.g. a regional holiday for one department).
- Holidays are skipped automatically when leave is applied across a date range, so you don't double-count time off.
