Getting started with the Policy Center
The Policy Center is BusinessHRM's home for your company's policies. You write (or upload) a policy, choose who it applies to, publish it, and then BusinessHRM tracks exactly who has acknowledged it — optionally capturing a signature as proof. It removes the guesswork from "has everyone seen the new handbook?"
How a policy rolls out
Create ──► Target audience ──► Publish ──► Employees acknowledge ──► Track & remind
(write/upload) (dept, designation…) (notify) (read + optional signature) (who's done / not)
- Create the policy — give it a title and an effective date, then either type the policy text in the rich editor or upload a PDF.
- Choose who it applies to — narrow the audience by Department, Designation, Employment Type and/or Gender. Leaving a filter blank means "everyone".
- Decide on a signature — turn on Employee Signature Required if you need a signed acknowledgement, not just a click.
- Publish — either Save & Publish immediately or Save As Draft and publish later. Publishing notifies the matching employees.
- Employees acknowledge — each affected employee reads the policy and clicks Acknowledge (and signs, if required).
- Track and remind — see who has and hasn't acknowledged, send reminders to those who haven't, and download a signed PDF for proof.
Two ways to write a policy
When creating a policy you pick one of:
- Add Policy Details — type the policy directly into the rich-text editor. Good for short, native-in-app policies.
- Upload Policy File — attach a single PDF. Good for formal documents your legal/HR team already maintain.
At least one of these is required.
Targeting: who must acknowledge
A policy's audience is the combination of up to four optional filters:
| Filter | Effect |
|---|---|
| Department | Limit to one or more departments. |
| Designation | Limit to one or more job titles. |
| Employment Type | Limit to Full Time, Part Time, On Contract, Internship and/or Trainee. |
| Gender | Limit to a specific gender (useful for gender-specific policies, e.g. maternity/paternity). |
The rule is AND across filters: an employee must match every filter you set. Any filter left blank means "no restriction on that dimension" — so a policy with no filters applies to everyone.
Tip: Start broad. The fewer filters you set, the wider the policy applies. Add filters only when a policy genuinely targets a subset of staff.
Where to go next
Everything in detail — the full create form, publishing, the acknowledgement and signature flow, the Acknowledged / Non-Acknowledged tracking tabs, reminders, downloading signed PDFs and the archive — is in Policy Center.
