Contract Settings

Contract Settings controls how your contract documents are numbered. Here you set the prefix, separator, and digit count that BusinessHRM uses to build each contract's reference number. A live preview shows exactly what the next contract number will look like.

Where to find itSettings sidebarContract Settings

This tab only appears when the Contracts module is enabled for your company. The page shows the contract numbering fields and a Save button.

Contract numbering

Set how new contract numbers are generated. As you type in the prefix, separator, and digit fields, the read-only "Contract Look Like" field updates to preview a sample number (for example, CTR#0001).

How to use it:

  1. Enter a Contract Prefix.
  2. Enter a Contract Number Separator.
  3. Set the Contract Digit count.
  4. Check the Contract Look Like preview.
  5. Click Save.
Field What it does
Contract Prefix Required. Text placed at the start of every contract number (for example, CTR).
Contract Number Separator The character placed between the prefix and the number (for example, # or -).
Contract Digit How many digits the running number is padded to. Minimum value is 2. For example, 4 produces 0001.
Contract Look Like Read-only. A live preview of what the next contract number will look like using the values above.

Permission

Access to Contract Settings is controlled by the manage_contract_setting permission, which must be set to "all", and the Contracts module must be enabled for your company. If either condition is not met, the page returns a 403 (access denied) or the tab does not appear.

Tips

  • Choose a prefix that clearly identifies contracts at a glance (for example, CTR or CON) so they are easy to tell apart from invoices and estimates.
  • Use the Contract Look Like preview before saving to confirm the format reads the way you expect.
  • Set the Contract Digit value high enough (for example, 4) to keep numbers consistent in length as you create more contracts.
  • If you do not see the Contract Settings tab, the Contracts module is not enabled for your company.
