Recurring Tasks
Recurring tasks are tasks that repeat automatically on a schedule — ideal for routine work like weekly reports, monthly invoices, or daily check-ins. You set them up once, and BusinessHRM generates each occurrence for you.
Where to find it
How to create a recurring task
- Open the Recurring Task area and click Add.
- Fill in the normal task details (title, project, assignees, dates, and so on) exactly as you would for a regular task — see Create a task.
- In the Repeat block, set how the task should repeat (see fields below).
- Click Save.
Repeat fields
| Field | What it does | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Repeat | Turns repetition on. Ticked by default. | No |
| Repeat Every | A number combined with the cycle type. For example, "2" + "Week" means every two weeks. | Yes (when repeating) |
| Cycle type | Day, Week, Month, or Year. | Yes (when repeating) |
| Cycles | How many times the task should repeat in total. | Yes |
How occurrences work
- Each generated occurrence is a normal task linked back to the recurring task.
- The recurring task's detail view shows how many of its occurrences have been completed.
- Deleting the recurring task deletes all of its generated tasks, so delete with care.
Permissions
- Creating recurring tasks follows the standard add tasks permission and the Tasks module being enabled.
Tips
- Set Cycles to a realistic total (for example, 12 for a monthly task that runs for a year) so occurrences stop when the work ends.
- Combine Repeat Every and the cycle type for flexible schedules — for example "Repeat Every 2 Week" for a fortnightly task.
- Use a clear, consistent Title so each generated occurrence is easy to recognise on the board.
