Contract Files, Discussions, and Templates

Beyond the core agreement, a contract can hold attached files, a discussion thread for back-and-forth notes, and you can speed up creation with reusable templates.

Contract files

The Files tab keeps documents related to the contract — signed copies, scopes of work, supporting paperwork.

Where to find itOpen a contract and go to the Files tab.

How to upload a file

  1. Open the contract and go to the Files tab.
  2. Click Add File.
  3. Drag and drop one or more files into the upload area (uploads run in parallel).

Working with files

Each file card has View (lightbox for images, new tab for others), Download, and Delete.

Contract discussions

The Discussion tab is a comment thread attached to the contract — useful for notes and back-and-forth, including with the contact.

How to add a comment

  1. Open the contract and go to the Discussion tab.
  2. Click Add Comment.
  3. Write your comment in the rich-text editor.
  4. Submit.

Each comment shows the author, when it was posted, and the message. You can edit or delete your own comments from their menu.

Contract templates

Templates are reusable scaffolds that pre-fill a new contract's content, so you do not retype standard agreements.

Where to find itFrom the Contracts list, open Contract Template (available if you have permission to manage templates).

What a template stores

A template holds the subject, value, currency, contract type, and description — but not a contact, dates, or address (those are filled in when you create the actual contract).

How to use a template

When you create a contract from a template, the form opens pre-filled with the template's subject, description, contract type, value, and currency. You then add the contact, dates, and any other details and save. See Create a contract.

Permission Controls
Manage contract template Creating, editing, and deleting templates (full permission to bulk delete).

Tips

  • Create a template for each standard agreement (retainer, NDA, SOW) to make new contracts a few clicks.
  • Upload the counter-signed PDF to the Files tab so the executed copy lives with the contract.
  • Use the Discussion tab to keep negotiation notes attached to the contract instead of scattered across email.
