App Settings
App Settings controls how BusinessHRM looks and behaves for everyone in your company: the date and time formats, timezone, default currency, interface language, table page size, and whether employees can export data. It also includes the controls for letting your Contacts sign themselves up.
The page opens on the main App Settings tab. If the Contacts feature is enabled for your company, a second tab, Client Sign Up Settings, is also available. (Two other tabs you may see referenced in the system, File Upload Setting and Google Map Settings, are managed by the platform administrator and are not covered here.)
At the top of the page you may see a notice asking you to set up a server scheduled task (cron job). This is an informational reminder for whoever manages your server; it has no fields to fill in on this page.
App Settings tab
This tab sets the display defaults that apply to your whole company.
- Open Settings and click App Settings in the sidebar.
- Adjust any of the fields below.
- Click Save.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Date Format | Sets how dates are displayed throughout BusinessHRM. Choose from a list of formats; each option shows a live example (for example DD-MM-YYYY, MM-DD-YYYY, YYYY-MM-DD, DD/MMM/YYYY, DD MMMM, YYYY, and several others). |
| Time Format | Sets how times are displayed. Options are 12 hour with uppercase AM/PM, 12 hour with lowercase am/pm, and 24 hour. |
| Default Timezone | Sets the timezone used across the app. Choose from the full list of world timezones. |
| Default Currency | Sets the default currency used for display. Choose from your defined currencies (shown as symbol and code). Changing this also refreshes the currency display format and triggers an exchange-rate update. |
| Language | Sets the default interface language for the company. Choose from your active languages; right-to-left languages are marked "(RTL)". Selecting a right-to-left language switches the interface to right-to-left layout automatically. Saving also updates your own language and reloads the interface. |
| Datatable Row Limit | Sets the default number of rows shown per page in tables across the app. Options are 10, 25, 50, or 100. |
| Employee Can Export Data | When enabled, lets employees (not just admins) export data from BusinessHRM. |
After you click Save, the new settings apply across the app. Some changes, such as language, reload the page so the new setting takes effect.
A note on right-to-left layout
There is no separate right-to-left switch. Right-to-left layout is a property of the language you choose. When you select a language marked "(RTL)", the interface automatically switches to right-to-left.
Client Sign Up Settings tab
This tab lets you allow your Contacts to register themselves through a public sign-up page. It appears only when the Contacts feature is enabled for your company.
- Open Settings and click App Settings, then open the Client Sign Up Settings tab.
- Turn on Allow Client Signup to reveal the approval option.
- Choose whether new sign-ups need your approval.
- Click Save.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Allow Client Signup | When enabled, Contacts can register themselves through a public sign-up page. Turning this on reveals the approval option below. |
| Need Client Signup Approval | When enabled, a new Contact sign-up must be approved by an admin before the account becomes active. This option is shown only when Allow Client Signup is on. |
| Client Signup URL | A read-only display of the public sign-up link for your company. Use the Copy button to copy it and share it with people you want to sign up. This is not editable. |
Permission
Access to App Settings is controlled by the manage_app_setting permission. A user must have this permission set to "all" to open the page and save changes. The Client Sign Up Settings tab also requires this permission set to "all".
Tips
- Set the Date Format and Time Format to match what your team is used to; these affect how every date and time is shown across the app.
- Choose the Default Timezone that matches where most of your team works so scheduled items and timestamps line up.
- If you operate in a single currency, set it once here as the Default Currency so it is preselected throughout billing.
- The Datatable Row Limit is a convenience setting; raise it if your team prefers to see more rows at once, or lower it for faster-loading tables.
- Leave Employee Can Export Data off unless your team genuinely needs non-admins to export data.
- After turning on Allow Client Signup, decide on the approval setting before sharing the sign-up link so unwanted accounts do not go live automatically.
- Logos, favicon, login background, and app name are set on the company branding pages, not here.
