Custom Link Settings
Custom Link Settings let you add your own links to the BusinessHRM sidebar menu. Use them to give your team one-click access to external tools, internal wikis, dashboards, or any web page, and to control which roles can see each link.
Where to find it›Custom Link Setting
Managing custom links
The page shows a table of every custom link with its title, URL, the roles allowed to see it, and its status. From here you add, edit, and delete links.
Add a custom link
- Open Settings sidebar > Custom Link Setting.
- Click Add New Custom Link.
- Fill in the form (see the field table below).
- Click Save. The page reloads and the new link appears in the table and, for the chosen roles, in the sidebar.
Edit a custom link
- In the table, click Edit on the link row.
- Change any field and click Save.
Delete a custom link
- In the table, click Delete on the link row.
- Confirm the removal.
Custom link fields
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Link Title | The text shown for the link in the sidebar. Required. |
| URL | The web address the link opens. Required. Opens in a new tab. |
| Can Be Viewed By | One or more roles allowed to see the link. Required. Only the selected roles get the link in their sidebar. (The admin role is not listed here.) |
| Status | Active or Inactive. Only active links appear in the sidebar; set a link inactive to hide it without deleting it. |
Permission note
Custom Link Settings is controlled by the manage_custom_link_setting permission. A user needs this permission set to "all" to add, edit, or delete custom links.
Tips
- Use a short, clear Link Title so it reads well in the sidebar.
- Always include the full URL with its scheme (for example https://) so the link opens correctly.
- Use the "Can Be Viewed By" roles to target links: show an HR portal only to HR roles, a sales dashboard only to sales roles, and so on.
- Set a link to Inactive instead of deleting it when you only want to hide it temporarily.
- Custom links open in a new browser tab, so they will not navigate users away from BusinessHRM.
