Contracts Overview

Contracts let you record formal agreements with a contact, capture their value and dates, collect signatures, attach files, and renew the agreement over time.

Where to find itIn the sidebar, open the Work section and click Contracts.

The Contracts menu is only visible if the Contracts module is enabled and your role can view contracts. Contracts also require the Contacts module to be enabled, because every contract is linked to a contact.

The contracts list

The list shows your contracts with their number, subject, contact, type, value, and dates. A Signed badge appears on contracts a contact has signed. From the list you can:

  • Click Create Contract to add a new one — see Create a contract.
  • Open a contract to see its detail page and tabs.
  • Use the per-row action menu for options such as the public sign link and signing.

Contact users see only their own contracts, and the bulk-action controls are hidden for them.

What you see inside a contract

A contract's detail page has tabs for:

Contract states

A contract does not have a single "status" field. Instead its state is made up of:

State How it is determined
Unsigned / Signed Whether the contact has signed it.
Company signed / not Whether someone from your company has added the company signature.
Expiring soon The end date is within the next 7 days.
Expired The end date has passed.

See Signing a contract for how signatures work.

Permissions

Permission Controls

Tips

  • Set Contract Value to 0 for agreements that have no cost.
  • Watch the Expiring soon contracts so you can renew before they lapse.
  • Use contract types to organise agreements by kind (for example, Retainer, NDA, SOW) — see Create a contract.
