Signing a Contract
A contract can carry two signatures: the contact's signature (the contact agreeing to the contract) and your company's signature. Both use an on-screen signature pad, and the contact can also sign through a public link without logging in.
The signature pad
Wherever you sign, you get a signature pad with:
- A draw area where you sign with a mouse, finger, or stylus.
- Undo and Clear buttons.
- An Upload Signature option to upload a signature image instead of drawing (PNG, JPG, JPEG, SVG, or BMP).
Contact signature
This is the contact agreeing to the contract. There are two ways it can be captured.
A logged-in contact signs
When a contact is logged in and views their own unsigned contract, a Sign action appears on the contract summary.
- The contact opens the contract and clicks Sign.
- They complete the sign form (see fields below) and draw or upload a signature.
- They submit. The contract is then shown as Signed.
A contact signs via a public link (no login)
For each unsigned contract you can share a Public Link so the contact can sign without an account.
- From the contract's Action menu (while it is unsigned), open the Public Link.
- Send that link to the contact.
- The contact opens it, completes the sign form, signs, and submits.
Public sign links are temporary and expire after about 7 days, so send them close to when you need the signature.
Sign form fields
| Field | What it does | Required |
|---|---|---|
| First Name | The signer's first name. | Yes |
| Last Name | The signer's last name. | Yes |
| The signer's email. | Yes | |
| Place | Where the contract is being signed. | Yes |
| Signature | The drawn or uploaded signature. | Yes |
Once signed, the contract records the signer's name, place, and date, and shows the signature on the summary. A contract cannot be signed twice — if it is already signed, signing again is blocked.
Company signature
This is your company countersigning the contract.
How to add the company signature
- Open the contract and use the Action menu → Company Signature.
- Draw or upload the signature.
- Save.
The company signature records the date and who signed it (their name appears as "Sign By").
The Company Signature action is only available to your staff (not to contact users), and only while the contract has not already been company-signed.
How signed status appears
- On the list, signed contracts show a Signed badge.
- On the summary, the contact's signature appears with name, place, and date, and the company signature appears with its date and "Sign By" name.
Permissions
- A contact can view and sign their own contract (logged in, or via the public link).
- Contacts cannot add the company signature or use bulk actions.
- Staff signing follows your contract permissions.
Tips
- Use the public link when the contact does not have a login — it is the quickest way to get a signature.
- Add the company signature after the contact signs, so the agreement is fully executed by both sides.
- Note: renewing a contract clears the contact's signature and the contract must be re-signed — see Renewing a contract.
