Milestones
Milestones break a project into major stages, each with its own cost, dates, and completion status. They are useful for tracking phases of work and for billing in stages.
Where to find it›Projects, then click the Milestones tab.
How to add a milestone
- Open the project and go to the Milestones tab.
- Click Add Milestone.
- Fill in the fields (see the table below).
- Click Save.
How to mark a milestone complete
You can change a milestone's status at any time:
- Go to the Milestones tab.
- Use the status control on the milestone to switch it between Incomplete and Complete.
You can also edit a milestone to change its status and other details.
Fields

Permissions
- View project milestones — to see the Milestones tab.
- Editing milestones follows your project edit permissions. The Project Admin of a project always has full milestone access.
Tips
- Use Add cost to project budget = Yes when a milestone represents a billable stage so it rolls into the overall budget.
- Milestones appear in the project's progress reporting and on the Roadmap, so keeping their status up to date keeps your charts accurate.
